Pedestrians crossing Paternoster Square in London are screened from a major re-building development
by a classical frontage of hoardings made from Filon Plate which blends effortlessly with the
surrounding building architecture.
The very clever use of Filon Plate by the hoarding contractors Combined Signs,
has created a boundary screen which is not only sympathetic with the surrounding buildings but also visually
pleasing to the eye. The 100 two and three meter high panels have been printed with architectural
style drawings reflecting the style of the buildings near by, which decoratively disguises a
development envisaged to be the new home of the London Stock Exchange.
The flexibility of Filon Plate and its many potential uses is highlighted by
this unique concept, demonstrating that not all hoardings have to be mundane and functional but can be transformed
into a pleasing environment for the general public and visitors to use in safety.
