Filon Rooflights - Rosslyn Chapel

Rosslyn Chapel at Roslin by Penicuik in Scotland is featured in the final chapter of Dan Brown's book The Da Vinci Code and is being protected to prevent erosion from the weather by a scaffolding structure incorporating Filon Rooflights. The rooflights provide ample daylight allowing detail renovation work to continue in adverse weather conditions without the need of artificial lighting. The chapel contains many features as described in Dan Brown's book which seemingly give clues as to the identity of the Holy Grail.

A similar project at the Houses of Parliament also used Filon Rooflights in the protective structure whilst cleaning work to the building was carried out. This structure not only protected workmen from the elements, but also the public from falling debris.

Filon's GRP translucent rooflights were chosen due to their excellent diffusion properties, which disburse good quality daylight over all the working areas under protective cover. Filon's many years experience in the rooflight industry enables them to provide expert advice on the technical concepts of this type of contract where the effective use of daylight is a necessary requirement.
