FILON SUPASAFE AND DR REINFORCED PROFILED GRP ROOFLIGHTS
FILON Supasafe rooflights are triple reinforced and made with polyester resins and glass fibre mats, featuring two additional reinforcement layers, including a reinforcing woven glass mat. They have undergone an ACR(M)001 Test for Non-Fragility of Large Element Roofing Assemblies, and achieved a Class B non-fragility rating. They offer impact resistance and load-bearing capabilities comparable to 0.7mm steel sheet.
FILON DR Rooflights
FILON DR (double reinforced) profiled GRP rooflights are made with polyester resins, glass fibre mat, and an extra reinforcing woven glass layer compared to traditional GRP rooflights.
They are assessed according to ACR(M)001 Test for Non-Fragility of Large Element Roofing Assemblies and have a Class B rating when used as a single skin application or part of a multi-layer assembly like FAIRs and site-assembled insulating rooflights.
The DR range comprises of CEDR24 (2.44kg/m²) with better strength characteristics than standard CE30 (3.06kg/m²), and CEDR30 (3.06kg/m²) which slightly surpasses standard CE36 (3.66kg/m²).
Benefits of Filon’s Enhanced Reinforcement Range
For applications where increased strength, load bearing, span and resistance to mechanical damage is required, FILON’s DR (double reinforced) profiled GRP rooflights with enhanced reinforcement are an ideal solution.
Excellent resistance to weathering
Our Supasafe Triple Reinforced and DR Double Reinforced Profiled GRP Rooflights come with Filon Protect to the weather face, a highly durable and weather-resistant protective film that increases sheet lifespan and reduces yellowing.
These rooflights have a life expectancy of over 30 years and Supasafe around 40 years, under normal atmospheric conditions. Independent accelerated weathering tests conducted under ISO 4892 and EN 1013-1 verify that FILON enhanced reinforcement rooflights achieve the highest durability classification under this standard.
Accurate profile matching to steel sheet
FILON Supasafe and DR rooflights are made using advanced glass reinforcement technologies and a precise manufacturing process, resulting in a lighter and thinner sheet with comparable impact resistance and load-bearing capabilities to heavier standard production sheets. This thinner sheet allows for more accurate profile definition, enabling better sealing between side and end laps in rooflights and roof sheets.
Fire resistance
FILON rooflights undergo testing in accordance with BS 476 parts 3, 6, and 7, BS EN 13501 Part 5, and BS 2782-0 Annex B Method 508A and are available in three fire retardant grades: Filon Grade 300, Filon Grade 104 and Filon Grade 101. All achieve BROOF (t4) to BS EN 13501 Part 5. For guidance on which fire grade is suitable for specific applications, please contact FILON’s Technical Department or refer to our Technical Documents page.
Wide range of profile options
FILON reinforced rooflights are available in a wide range of commonly used roofing profiles. Special colour tinted rooflights can be supplied to special order.
Light transmission
FILON DR and Supasafe rooflights provide excellent levels of light transmission similar to that of standard translucent GRP rooflights.
