Welcome to our comprehensive guide on how to measure and identify the profile of a rooflight or roof sheet, so you can measure, check, and get it right, first time.
Here at Filon, we’ve been manufacturing roof sheets for more than 67 years, working with glass reinforced plastic to offer product solutions to the construction sector. Let’s get into it.
Measuring
A profiled rooflight or roof sheet needs to be specifically sized to match the existing roof sheets to ensure a watertight fit. Accurate measurements are essential, so here are the steps that we recommend.
There are some key measurements you need in order to find the sheet that is right for the job:
- Pitch measurement – this is the measurement from centre to centre of two crowns
- Depth of profile – this is the vertical measurement from the crown down to the lowest point of the trough
- The crown – the width of the crown
- The valley trough – the width of the trough
- Cover width – width from centre to centre of the crowns at the edges of the sheet
These measurements will give you the dimensions you need to identify the sheet required for the job, and help with the configuration, too. We specialise in GRP, or glass reinforced polyester, rooflights and roof sheets, and have a range of products, sheets, and specifications available depending on what is needed for the roofing project.
